Medicare

I went to Social Security Office with my mom to apply for her Medicare.  I was so disappointed and confused why they made this process so difficult when it's something for elders.  I can see this can be a nightmare to those that English is not their first language.  Luckily, the person who was helping us was nice enough to explain a lot of my questions.  Anyway, I thought I post something that could be helpful to some people.  click image below for direct link to Medicare online application.

PART A (hospital insurance) - 65 up eligible (Free) (helps pay for inpatient care in a hospital or skilled nursing facility.  some home health care and Hospice care.)

PART B (medical insurance) - 65 up eligible (aprox. $100+) (helps pay for doctors’ services and many other medical services and supplies that are not covered by hospital insurance.)

PART C (Medicare advantage) - Part A, Part B required to be eligible (covers something Part A and B don’t / choose HMO or PPO <HMO is cheeper> /   / Also covers some Prescripton drug /

plans are available in many areas. People with Medicare Parts A and B can choose to receive all of their health care services through one of these provider organizations under Part C.)

PART D (Prescription drug coverage) (helps pay for medications doctors prescribe for treatment.)
